Okay boys and girls... this is linked to 3A football, I'll get to that later. Phil, you're going to like this one.
For those that don't know me, I'm an adventure junkie. This past weekend myself and 3 buddies ventured to Wichita Falls for the HHH (Hotter 'n Hell Hundred) Triple Threat. Three events in three days.
Day 1: Friday afternoon 5:00 p.m. start; 12 mile mountain bike race on the Wee-Chi-Tah mountain bike trail (ranked one of the top trails in Texas). Temp was 105 degrees. That night, relaxed with a couple of brews and got score updates on the 3ADL.
Day 2: Saturday morning 6:15 a.m. start; 100 mile road bike race that took us through Iowa Park (3A football town), Electra, Burkburnett 3A football town), and back through Wichita Falls. Finished in a little over 6 hours. Temp at the finish... a blistering 106 degrees. Temp on pavement was 112 degrees. Unbelievable, I've never been that hot in my entire life. Temp later that afternoon was 112 degrees!
Day 3: Sunday morning 7:00 a.m. start; Trail half marathon on the same trail as the the mountain bike race. Finished a little over 2 hours.
Through blood, sweat and LOTS of fluids, all 4 of us managed to finish all 3 events on one of the hottest weekends on record. For anyone wanting an extreme challenge, try the HHH Triple Threat. Another check mark on the bucket list.
Cheers!
