Apple has just released a new iPhone app called Friday Night Rivals developed specifically for the Texas high school football community.

You can view all game information for all of the UIL varsity teams for all conferences 5A - 1A. You can select your favorite teams, view team schedules, even find football games that are near you. It also allows users to post and share scores for every game and comment on the outcome of games.



Pretty cool app. Free, but for iPhone only. You can update scores and follow certain teams.

I think that I will like the app but this (^)is the problem with it...too many knuckle heads out there will post bogus scores. There have been a few websites that allowed this type of thing and people just can't be trusted. Just never be surprised to find out that team "A" beat team "B" instead of the other way around.

Looking4#8 told me about this a couple of weeks ago... it's pretty awesome... I even was about to find a couple of games on Thursday night near me instead of scanning the newspapers to find one.

Link? I don't remember what thread it was. It's been over a week. But that's where I heard about it, so it's definitely somewhere. If you wanna see the actual thread, then you can look it up yourself. The link I posted is the one the guy linked to and it's clearly dated aug 11, 11 days ago.

I downloaded the app. However, it closes immediately after it is clicked. Anyone else having this problem?

It's an awesome app provided people dont act like morons and post bogus scores...which will happen at some point.

What about an Android App? :)

I noticed a HS Gametime App for California, but it looks like it is formatted just like the DMN HS Gametime logo. I wonder if the DMN is smart enough to potentially sign on to this?

I don't have a link to it, but if you search for it in the App Store, it's called "SportsDayHS."

It's $1.99, I think I'll stick with the free Friday Night Rivals for now.

DMN's only going to help if you want DFW scores...the one difference is you can be assured of accuracy of scores and get actual play by play and real time stats

From what I've heard it will only be available for the Iphone for this year. I myself have a droid and would like to see it happen soon.

I downloaded it just for the real time scores. Will be good come playoff times, but probably useless ubless Forney is covered.

Finally got to see the app in action. Seems to have accurate scores, but only from the more popular games. Small schools typically didnt get their scores posted.

Anyone see that the school from Mexico actually kinda hung in there against TWHS?

So far...so good. Seems to be a well-written, major bug-free app. Looks like it is growing quickly in popularity as word spreads. Be sure to monitor the games that you attend to make sure someone is updating the scores in a timely, accurate manner....and if not---please do.

You can also check the accuracy of scores. If a person post a bogus score you can report it. To many and they have a way to ban that persons device.
