Never thought this day would arrive...dropped off my boy at Angelo State. It was a sad day for me but I'm still very excited for him. He is on a mission to succeed. Called me yesterday to tell me he went to the ASU scrimmage with another ex Burnet Bulldog. Told me he wishes now he had decided to play. Said he felt confident after watching the scrimmage he could play at this level. Anyway, we came back Saturday afternoon. Got home only to find my 17-year old Golden Retriever had passed away. So, my 11-year son and I were out digging a hole in the heat of the day to bury her. And, of every imaginable spot I could've picked to dig, I picked the spot where my water main was! (I had no idea it was there) Yep, you guessed it, I punctured it with my shovel. I had a water gusher and mud/dirt all over me. So, after getting that fixed, we had to dig another hole for the ol' girl......to top it off, as I was putting the shovels away in the workshop, I stirred up a wasps nest and got stung.....:crying:
and how was your weekend??

Son of a gun! Man, hope your week is better. Keep your head up. Maybe the Bulldogs will pull out a win Friday night to cheer you up!

Man, your weekend just went from "sad" to worse! I am sorry about your family pet...I know how tough that can be. Good luck to your son at ASU and it sounds like you still have one at home too...I hope he has a GREAT senior year!

I know how you feel, I dropped my only daughter off at Texas Tech yesterday, one of the hardest things I have had to do as a parent. Sorry to hear about the dog.

Hang in there Cam. My oldest daughter has been at ASU for a week. We dropped her off a week ago Sunday so she can start her band stuff, then was back there this weekend for the festivities and to of course purchase a few things she needed.

Thanks! I'm hanging on by a thread!! I saw and heard the band practicing next to the field near the bookstore. I think that was Friday. Where is she staying? My boy was supposed to move into the new dorms but they're not finished. He has to stay at the old Concho building until October sometime. Concho is pretty yucky but he doesn't mind.....

People are speculatin'......my hands are pretty well callused but during the digging to bury my doggie, I developed a huge blister right on the center of my left palm! Mind you, right in the center!...and you know what they say about anything that pops up in the center! ......And of course, today at work, some folks noticed it and started making fun of me....I swear I didn't do anything....people are so cruel.......

She is in Concho until the new ones get done. She will be in building 3 of the new dorms. I wan not impressed at all with Concho.

Yeah, I heard they are planning on imploding that joint. It looks pretty beat up. The only worry I have is the fire escapes. My kid is on the 7th floor so I made sure he knew the getaway routes.

Possibly. I did attend San Angelo Jr College 1963-1965! I transferred after the last year it was a two year school. Graduated from Tech in 1967.

Bees use their stinger for mating?? Shoot....and all this time I thought they just stung ya with it! Man, I'm confused, maybe I need the talk...what time can I come over Old Tiger? I think I might have my story all wrong........

So sorry about your golden retriever. Losing a pet is extremely hard :( we went through that last summer with our beloved, 11 yr old chocolate lab, Rio, and it was traumatic- We just got a puppy in July (another chocolate lab)- it took us a year to even think about another pet. If this house-breaking doesn't start working soon, I might RETHINK it again (just kidding - we are totally in love with BEAR)

It was tough..hard to imagine ol' Missy lasted almost 18 years! My daughter was only 4 years old. That's a crazy long life for a dog. And this is the same dog that was bitten as a puppy by her dad. Crushed her jaw completely on one side. I still remember having to take her to a specialist to see what they could do for her. I thought for sure she would be put down. As it turned out, even the surgeons couldn't do anything and just told us to leave her alone and heal. Well, she did. Lived with a crooked snout as her left jaw never developed. But she was a happy dog. A big one too! 110 lbs. Always with her tennis ball in her mouth....

I got the 'birds and the bees' story just as I had loaded my last box in the back seat of my '72 Cutlass, headed off to college. My mom said "you do know about condoms, right?". "Yes mom". And away I went. If only she knew.
