My heartfelt prayers go out for the healing of this brave hero. I also pray for comfort and strength for his family, friends, and co-workers. It is such a tragedy that every officer, everyday, is taking a chance with his or her life on every call. You never know what the pressures, influences and situation are when you respond, but you respond with what your training and instincts tell you.

When each of you pray tonight, not only remember this officer, but every officer and public servant that gives so much for so little respect in return.

prayers for him and his family. Updates on his condition would be appreciated!

From the SNyder Daily News

Snyder Police Cpl. Darrell Campbell
remains in critical condition, but
continues to show progress, according
to Chief Terry Luecke.
“He’s still in critical condition, but
he’s showing a few more improvements.
We’re very optimistic, but it’s
going to take some time,” Luecke said
this morning.
The chief has been with Campbell
and his family in Lubbock since the
officer was wounded during a Tuesday
morning shooting.
He said Campbell remains unconscious,
but is showing movement on
his right side. So far, there have been
no signs of movement on his left
side.
The chief said many relatives and
friends have visited the hospital.
Law enforcement officials from
both the Lubbock police department
and Lubbock County sheriff’s department
also have maintained a vigil at
University Medical Center.
Luecke said he understands that it
has been more than 40 years since the
last peace officer was shot in Snyder
or Scurry County.
A trust fund for Campbell and his
family has been set up at American
State Bank.

Wounded officer's wife pleas for children of shooter

lubbock, tx (kcbd) - the wife of a west texas police officer who was shot in the head while responding to a call on july 12 has made an extraordinary request of her family's countless supporters.
while her husband continues to recover at a rehabilitation center, amber duncan campbell posted the following statement on her facebook (http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1607043119&sk=wall) wall tuesday afternoon:

Ok people keep asking us what we need. I have thought a lot about this. I would like people to rally together and get school supplies and clothing for the children of the man who shot Darrell. My heart breaks for them..they can never have their dad back and they need support too. Darrell is doing so well! He gave thumbs up when I asked him if he was on board with this idea. We are forgiving and letting go!
