Anybody out there seen the dangerous schools list for Texas that is supposed to be out before school starts?

It is part of the "No Child Left Behind" act - all states have to make a list of "dangerous schools". Then, the schools on that list have to send out letters to parents informing them of that status just like you do when the school is rated as "low-performing" and students may transfer out of those schools - basically, no questions asked. Your rating depends on if you have had a "gun" incident in the past year and the number of assaults and violent acts.

And, what happens if all the schools in a district are considered dangerous? I read that if a neighboring district would take you - you can go. If there's only one high school in a district and it's considered "dangerous" - you have to be allowed to go to another district.

You're probably right, the story I read didn't get that deep into it.
