We have to replace a talented group of seniors. Many of the kids that will start this year got plenty of playing time last year due to injuries and in the second half. We have a couple D1 recruits on the defensive side of the ball. A young receiving corp, but remember this name: Cooper Howey, by the end of the season many will know who he is. We should have a good running game. Other than that we will have to wait and see.

Oh and Bobcat: I will still take our boys over Celina.....

You already know the name but you will hear it much more this year. Stehl Ratliff is our RB. He has really put on some muscle. He was clocked at 4.5 in the 40 at SMUs camp. This is going to be a HUGE year for him. Him, Kevin Vacarro, and Ethan Horton are getting a lot D1 looks. Other names you will soon hear about, Cooper Howey, Garret Wells, Sam Huminuk(sp?), Mitch Stephens, Mack Monsen, Abel Jimenez. I know Im leaving some out. But keep an eye out, our cupboard is far from bare.

So far this week, I've heard some really good things on how the squad is looking. Most seem to be in really good shape. The weight room and 7 on 7 experience have been a huge contributor to that. This years D is going to be stout. LB's will probably be some of the best in the state. With the new players competing for positions, it's made the level of intensity a little stronger. Only 3 more weeks to gel before the first game. Outlook is looking very good for the Lions.

Inter squad scrimmage last Saturday.
Offense looked really good, not sharp yet but really good I hear. RB's are scary!
Defense is going to be nasty!! LB's and DB's were hitting hard. Going to be very tough for anyone to score this season. Yes, that means you too Carthage.

I didn't see you. I was there roaming around by the field house catching a sun-burn.

They looked great. Did you see the linemen and that kid that didn't have a uniform yet. Holy crap they are big. Some of those kids standing next to BEAST made him look very small.

I thought they were very crisp with only having a week under their belt. There was some very good hitting and a lot of speed. This is going to be fun.

I was very impressed with Jimenez and Kemp. Kemp was hitting hard. They both got a lot of playing time last year so it's like having 2 returning starters.

I need a roster list before I go to practice again. I really struggled figuring out who was who.

Actually, Brownwood was able to claim a portion of the district title because Graham beat Wylie a couple of weeks later. The only thing Brownwood claimed that night at Gordon Wood was defeat!!

I believe we were paid back for that night (and then some) last year at our place. Looking forward to seeing how things play out this year!!

You tipify what is wrong with America today. You dont' like something that happened 40 years ago and you want to change the rules after the fact. Those young men played by the rules and earned the result whether you like it or not. However, since you feel entitled to make the rules for the rest of us, you want to unilaterally change the rules to get the result you desire. Instead of worrying about something that happened 40 years ago, why not just declare Brownwood the champion of last year, I am sure there is a rule that could have been in place last year that would have changed the outcome of the game with Charthage. Lobby for that change.

I think you are on the right track though. If you can't achieve what you want by playing by the rules, change the rules! Appears to be the new American way. Go Brownwood, what they can't accomplish on the field they can accomplish by lobbying! It's the American Dream!!

You talk as if we got beat by 50 by Carthage. I won't go out and say we were better than Carthage and should have won, but I will say we were so evenly matched it came down to who got the calls. Carthage was not bigger, stronger, or faster than us; we were two pretty dang even teams, and when two even teams match up one has to lose. We lost.

It was a great game by 2 very good teams. Came down to the last play.
