Thank you Old! In 30A Ingleside is the one that really grew. They went from 546 to 609 in two years. If they keep that up they will pass Sinton at the next count in two years. Someday they may be in 4A.

Its been some time since Ive had any involvement in that area, but I remember the Navy's presence was growing pretty steadely at one point in Ingleside.
Its really interesting to look at the growth, and decline, in populations of some of these areas every couple of years. Its like checking the pulse of various econimies around the state. I have been amazed at the fast growth in Burnet County over the last 4 or 5 years. In our case it hasn't been so much because of new industry or new jobs as it has been for people wanting to get away from the high cost of living and high taxes of Travis and Williamson Counties. I guess every community has a story.

Old I think the Navy is the main reason because there has been lots of new construction and businesses that have been built there the last few years. Unfortunately the Navy Homeport there is on the list again in 1995 of possible base closures and even though most are confident that it will survive again a base closure would be disasterous for that area. Plus with the millions of dollars that has been put into the Homeport the last few years it would sure have been a waste of taxpayer money.

Oops My Bad again. I met the possible list of base closures in 2005 not 1995. Ten years off.

I'm pretty sure Aransas Pass will pass Sinton as well within the next few years. I go down to Port Aransas every summer, and every year it just keeps getting bigger. I mean if Ingleside is growing, Aransas Pass has to as well, aren't they right next to each other.

I agree Big. Aransas Pass has also been growing but for some reason their school hasn't. In fact two years ago their enrollment was 547 and in the latest alinenment it actually lost students and went down to 536. I don't understand how it happened but there are the figures.

You assume that they would make the playoffs. Even with a five team district it might not happen. wink
Bring on the three team district! :D

Hmm....I just noticed this.....but for some reason, i'm a big fan of La Feria now. Wouldn't want to go the Div. 1 route just yet. I'll root AGAINST La Feria when they play Port Isabel, but all other games i'm gunning for them to win.

that is unless you Sinton peeps want to play Port Isabel in regionals...hehe

I think PI could compete in D1 just as much as in D2, I really do...

Anyway, Cuero and Gonzales' numbers have dropped, I guess we're finding out whose towns were and weren't 'getting busy' around 14-18 years ago...

An old friend who recently passed away, told me something a while back that made sense. He had twelve children. I asked him, "Why so many kids?" He answered without batting an eye, "Well son, you see, we didn't have TV back then."

Hey! It's not that our parents were "getting busy" or anything like that. Port Isabel is experiencing a ton of growth in the Laguna Vista community (within PIISD) all around the golf course there. There are also more permanent residents moving into South Padre Island. (also part of PIISD)

It's a neat place (the area the golf course is on), i've thought of getting a condo there.
