Hook 'em Owls!!! Wait a minute...maybe thats not right.....how about Go Owls...from a Horn fan!!!! On a side note...I was kinda torn I wanted the Owls to win but I also wanted John Hudgins to do well pitching for Stanford ( he is a Texas Rangers draftee). Seems he got the better of the Owls. It seemed to me that Stanfords experience at playing in Omaha showed up Sunday...way too many Rice mistakes!

Stanford's starting pitcher has a melt down. Walks in three runs in the first inning on one hit and five walks. Walks the first batter in the top of the second, then was relieved. Next batter up gets a hit with a bunt. Then a fly out to left. Next batter draws a walk, bases loaded, one out.

Stanford manages one hit off Humber, but strands him at second, going to top of the 3rd, Rice still up 4-0.

Humber walks one in the top of the fourth, but two fly out and the last one grounds to first. Rice coming to bat in the bottom of the 4th, still 4-0.

Rice lead off strokes a solid base hit, moves to second on a sacrifice bunt. Next batter strokes a solid base hit to left field. Runners at the corners, one out.

Rice is robbed of a run on a wild pitch, pitcher tags him at home(according to the ump). Next batter walks. Next batter grounds to force out at third. Going to top of the 5th, still 4-0 Rice.

It was very close Sinton66. I thought he made it too. Rice gets out of the top of the 5th inning as a Stanford players tries to steal second and gets put out. No doubt about that call. If Rice can hold them scoreless the next inning I think they can win don't you?

Way to go Rice Owls! They kept the national championship in Texas! Philip Humber pitched a great game all the way. This is good for UT also in that next season Rice has to have the pressure of defending national champions.

This is Rice's first national championship in any sport. They have had some great football and baseball teams in the past but this team is the first one to bring home the gold.
