So, my boys and I were bass fishin' on one of the dam ponds that naturally occur behind our neighborhood. Water is crystal clear and yesterday we noticed one of the ponds is loaded with some really big cats. I mean big! What's the best homemade bait you can use without buyin' that stinky crap from Wal-Mart.

Cut up some baby kittens. Works great.

Don't forget to soak them overnight in natural light.

Great! "Tiger", our cat, is done! Hope he's not waitin' on the front porch when I get home!

My dad used to have great luch with brim. He would catch them on small hooks with bread dough or small bits of bacon. Then hook the brim in the back below the fin. He would fish them near shore about a foot deep. Big catfish ate big brim.

He had one pond that he tied a stout line to the limbs of overhanging willow trees and hooked the brim and worked the lines like a trot line. Smallest catch he had was 6 lbs.

I have the best luck with the following baits in order.

1. Dobson Fly Larvae
2. Live Perch
3. Earth Worms (not Canadian night crawlers or red wigglers)

I used to use bacon at home. Either that or earth worms.

mix:

corn, corn meal, liver or chopped hot dogs, shredded cheese

in a bucket with 2 to 1 water and milk and mix well

close lid on the bucket, let it sit in the sun for a week

when ready squeeze onto your treble hook and hold on!

A box of chicen livers on a treble hook...floating jugs are my favorite...the wife gets a real kick out of chasing jugs with a Miller Lite

Cam , where you live shad is the best , buy it frozen at most of the stores around the lake. Worms would be the next best , then shrimp. For you these would be best as you dont want to get those hands of yours to dirty.......

Neither did I...one even had a small stache and a switchblade attached to one of it's pectoral fins! Also had a small tattoo on it's side that read, "Zetas"! Man, is that stereotyping or what??:D
