A surprise to me as well. The qb will be a Sophomore or Junior next year and it will be his first time starting on varsity in that position full time. He does have a great arm. It should be fun this upcoming year.

Hey Buddy! No chance since we are the largest in our district.

Off season slow. I'm already tired of the heat... just counting down the days till kickoff!

Did you know that in his last year as a football player for Texas A&M Freer's own Harold Cowley coached A&M to the regionals in football. He also played WR for the Aggies and caught a td pass in the 1942 Cotton Bowl. He was on the 1939 Aggie National Championship Football team. During WW2 he flew B29s for our country. After the war he returned to Freer and he and his family ran Freer Iron Works for many years. His oldest son Jeff gave his life fighting for his Country in VietNam. Mr. Cowley set the Freer District Javaline record while in High School and this record has never and will probably never be broken. The year after he won it and set the record there was an unfortunate accident with a javeline throw and a young man lost his life so this event was dropped.
Mr. Cowley supported the Aggie foundation for many years. He later retired and moved to Austin and passed away in 1999.
