A good candidate for me would be the guy up at Canyon that has won all the SCs, first with Nazareth and then Canyon in girls basketball. In football, all I know is that I wouldn't trade our's at Wylie for anyone you could name.

Rusty's a great guy and a great coach, but gotta throw Terry Cron some props first. Rusty was a coordinator under Cron when they won the 1999 state championship and went to the 2000 finals. He took over when Cron left.
Terry Cron is also the only HC to win state championships in 3 different classes(1a, 2a, and 3a).

Cron gets a bad rap of he only won when he his teams were so talented he could not lose.

Pretty sure Gordon Wood won titles in 2A, 3A, and 4A.

If we're counting past and present coaches, Gordon Wood was the best ever.

Back then the smaller schools did not get to play for state titles. If they had, I believe Coach Wood would have won about 15 of them.

I am just going off of memory. I think the pictures in Athletic office show 2A, 3A, and 4A. He also won 2 in Stamford before coming to Brownwood.

Yes, Cron won titles at Bartlett(1a), Mart(2a), and Commerce(3a).
And if we're talking all time wins, then it's GA Moore.

I could be wrong. Maybe his titles in Stamford were 2A. Either way, heck of a coach.

Coach Wood won back to back state championships in 55 and 56 in Stamford. I don't know if they were 1A or 2A but I dont think they have ever been in 3A.
