My grandad used to say a Channel Cat would swim through a mile of minnows to get 1 Hellgrammite. They were fun to sain as a kid. I know you can create some excitement when you put a couple of them down the back of your grandmother's bathing suit.

Under rocks in running water. But what was strange was that if you put them in a minnow bucket of water, they would die. They would catch an air pocket under the rock for oxygen.

I Googled it to see what it was and now I feel like I have them crawling all over me.

Can those things grow wings? If so, I have seen those on the Frio. I just called it a "demon bug".
Good name for it either way.

Actually their name is"Dobson Fly". They are some scary looking creatures. They look like some prehistoric flying dragon or something, and they will bite your a$$.

I've had one land on me before at night on the river. It was a good bug, because it quickly was a dead bug.;)
