By winning the second game of the baseball game with Texas A&M, Texas has cinched the cup this year. I know I haven't updated at all this year but I expected it to be close and come down to the baseball series which it did. The team that wins 2 out of 3 in baseball is the winner of that point.
The two teams tied at the end of the year 9 1/2 to 9 1/2 but Texas wins the tie breaker. I don't like the way they do it and feel their could be a better way but it is what it is. In case of tie they add prior year points to determine the winner and since Texas won last year they win the Trophy and it stays in Austin.
It went the Aggies' way two years ago when the teams were tied and as I wrote the tie breaker is as it is.
The competition was tough and both sides had pleasant surprises as well as disappointments but in the end as expected it came down to baseball.
Congratulations to both schools on a competitive year. Well Done Horns on retaining the trophy!
