The boys and I will be there.

Celina should sweep the relays and win shot. That will be pretty hard to beat for the team championship. Only WOS has a better sprint relay time coming out of regionals.

Celina relay teams have posted a

42.42 Sprint
1:27.86 200X4
3:15.52 Mile

Roos should throw 63+

I would be going bc we have a girl who has a good shot at winning the 2 mile, but EV is graduating that saturday

3:15 is smoking in the mile relay and by far the best time in the state. Roos did not have that great of a regional throw. Anxious to see what he does on the big stage.

When Cuero was winning all of those championships (3 in four years) everyone reminded us that track speed did not translate into football speed so it is my duty to do the same with you, Celina. Plan on finishing no better than fourth in your district next year in football if you plan on winning state in track. You have been warned.

Our 8th graders could finish better than 4th in our district!

I don't think speed will be Celina's strength this year. I will take our O-line that will average 6'4" 280 and put 3 in D1 over any in the state regardless of class.

SC in Track is about like all those in 7 on 7. Meaningless in the big picture. All that matters is December!

You have been warned!

Gator.......... I think he was being sarcastic or "tongue in cheek" if you will :) Cuero won the State Track Meet 3 out of 4 years and got 2nd the year they didn't win. winning 2 of the 3 relays each time. We heard ad-nauseum that "track speed does not equate football speed" Crabman was just having some fun..

I wish I didn't have work related stuff on the 13th - I'd love to go watch that mile relay - 3:15 - damn, that is flat out smoking............ good luck!!!! and Pass that stick!!

OK track people, does Dallas Madison take their region 2, 3rd place 4X400 team to State since their 3:19.79 was the 3rd fastest time in all four regions this week? I know they have 9 lanes at Austin and have heard they will take a best time from the regions to fill that lane. Is that true?

Go ahead Coach. 42.16 is pretty damn good considering Jaxon wasn't running. With Jaxon it would've been in the high 41's. Say what you want. This is a track thread and I posted a track relevant post.

Region 1 400m relay:

1Lubbock Estacado, 42.55;
2. Mineral Wells, 42.58;
3. Kennedale, 42.97

5. Brownwood, 43.20

Out of three 3 relays Celina has:

1 Senior
3 Juniors
1 Sophomore
1 Freshman

Do Seniors run track elsewhere? Not so much in Celina. I suspect that these guys will come back as Seniors. We only have 1 Senior on the team.

I will miss covering the state meet as a member of the media.

Went there the past two years while at the Bay City Tribune

Went there 25 years when I was at the Wharton Journal-Spctator.

Doubt I will go to a state meet again unless I find another newspaper job

Went to my first state meet at Memorial back in the spring of 1986 and went every year just about.

It was our plan to go, BUT we'll be in SA Friday night for Casino Night (fundraiser lol) at UIW. Prom is Saturday, so we've got decorating, valet stuff, paparazzi stuff...and a nap planned.

Bay City and El Campo only had like 2 regional Qualifers in Track (field events), what is up with that ???????? 800 plus kids in school and they can't get a runner Qualified that is just crazy.

Then have a heart to heart with Casey. Nothing can be posted about Brownwood at all without his smart mouth. Id really like to think the board would be past that by now. I understand when Rocket is here, but crap it pretty old for the rest of us.

Maybe this is not the correct thread, but why didn't the "wildcard" (9th qualifier) to the state meet get the 9th lane in each race???

Columbia roughnecks are going to win the 4x100. They dropped the baton, fell down, and ran backwards and still ran a 42.99.

gonna try to be there. Columbus's Royce Caldwell will be running in the 200 and he's only a freshman. he finished 3rd at regionals but his time was 4th fastest of all regional 200 times. the kid has a bright future. best of luck to all the athletes competing this year
