Happy TAKS day to all my fellow educators. And for all my non-educators, spend this week being thankful you're in a different profession. :dispntd:

This is like the playoffs for all administrators. They run around giddy and excited all week.

Do other communities halt other activities such as little league games and practices during TAKS testing?

Thought is, the kids will stay home after school and rest.

Wylie little league does not have games for the TAKS age children this week, and the younger kids get a chance to play night games this week. Of course, for those of us who have children in both age groups, this means we are at the ballpark, as usual.

Good luck to the teachers and students. I'm not at all a fan of the TAKS, but I'll save that rant for another time.

I dont deny the need for a standardized test for Texas, but the focus is misguided. It's 100% on the schools and teachers, making the school and teacher 100% responsible for each kids' education. If a kid doesn't take at least SOME responsibility for their own education by graduation, they don't stand a chance in college.

It makes it tough on no education staff as well, We have to be quite so no machinery, mowers, weedeaters, drills etc.
Which although it makes it tough to get things done it is a nice break from all the hustle.
