Do they have to play these tourneys at municipal courses or can they also play at country clubs?

Just wondering...that's the only reason I can think of why they would've picked Lozano. I wouldn't turn cattle out on that track.

The wind, water and elements in CC always reduce or blow up scores. In some of those years listed......4a's were winning as 3a's. Good luck to those that advanced!!

the wind was an absolute beast this year...

i was at oso and thought the course was in good shape. (just couldn't get used to that smell)

cough, cough, wink wink - Medina Valley

I must say, when I told Johnny about this thread - the 1st thing he asked me - did they play at Oso or Lozano........ I said Lozano - and he said - No wonder - with that crappy course and the wind - a scratch golfer could shoot 78 on a "good day"........ when they played his junior year @ Oso - they were redoing the back 9 - we got stuck in the mud in our cart....... lol..... not sure what Oso is like now but Lozano leaves much to be desired. Kingsville was horrible and we didn't think it could get much worse.

courses in the region make bids to have them at their courses...

for example, the 2a region II tournament is at Legends Country Club (www.legendsccstephenville.com) this year. I heard they bid $25 per player (cost to UIL/schools) to have it there. I heard that if there had been anything within $20 of that they would have had it somewhere nice, so cost has a lot to do with where they have the regional tournaments.

I'm not a golfer, but I've heard Sinton's Municipal course is better than Lozano.

They could try holding the tournament here.....

Then they could go to Club Pelican West and watch Phil's favorite band!

River Hills, Northshore, or Padre Isles would be much nicer for that tournament. I would say CC Country Club but they were having the Southland Conference tourney there the same week I believe.

There's also a nice newer course in Port A that's an Arnold Palmer design but I can't remember the name of it...
