District standings:

Brownwood 6-0
Abilene Wylie 5-2
Snyder 4-2
Sweetwater 1-5
Big Spring 0-7

Tonight's games

Brownwood at Abilene Wylie
Sweetwater at Snyder

I believe this is the scenario.

A win by Brownwood clinches the district title
A win by Wylie clinches a share of second place.
A win by Wylie and a loss by Snyder clinches second place for
Wylie and third for Snyder.

A win by Brownwood against Snyder on Friday will still give them a district championship. If

If Snyder beats Brownwood Friday, it would be a 3-way tie, correct?

Yep. Graylon Brown ran over the catcher at the plate and the ump tossed him.

BEAST running over the catcher is not against the rules. Was he running something else after the impact or something?

Yes, running over the catcher in high school is against the rules. You either have to slide or give up. I am an umpire and have thrown out players for it.

BEAST Check the rule book? how is the question I asked anwered by that answer. why did he get ejected. contact with the catcher blocking the plate is not against the rules. SO, why was there an ejection?

A Brownwood fan told me that Wylie's catcher should have been ejected because he twisted GB's ankle on the way by.

Had this very thing come up in a 12yo game the other night. The player was ejected because he left the ground instead of sliding. Took the umps about 15-20min and the rule book to figure out it was an auto ejection. Don't know if the HS rules are the same, but if they are, it might explain this incident.

I think it was his knee, not the ankle.

In my post above---the runner was ejected---not the catcher, so this incident is different.

It was the runner that was ejected last night, too. Try to keep up, ok? :p

LOL--It's getting harder and harder to keep up---I just don't have time to read thoroughly right now---besides, I can claim ignorance and old age.....:D

Little League does not allow the runner to run over the fielder whether he is blocking the plate or not. The runner has to avoid contact and then if the fielder is obstructing the base line without the ball the run is safe. Also, if the runner slid head first he was automatically out!

I'm sure you have seen the "head first" violation a hundred times like I have. When boys first move up to the minors, it's hard for them to remember that just because they see Josh do it on tv, doesn't mean it's legal in little league. However, that first time they do it in a game and get called out, they usually don't ever forget again. I sure do love baseball season. :)

District standings:

Brownwood 6-1
Abilene Wylie 6-2
Snyder 5-2
Sweetwater 1-6
Big Spring 0-7

Tonight's games:

Brownwood at Snyder
Sweetwater at Big Spring

A Brownwood win will give them the district title. A Snyder win
will cause a three way tie between Snyder, Brownwood and Wylie
for the championship. I have no idea what the tiebreaker scenario
is to decide seeding for the playoffs.

Sweetwater needs a win to clinch fourth place. :D
