Harrison and Holland once again come up big..Colby Lewis and his fastball becoming a concern. Two games in a row to start the season where he has no velocity

I have definitely been impressed with Harrison and Holland. I hope they can keep it up. Colby hasn't pitched that bad, but he hasn't been pitching like the number 2 man. I hope he gets it straightened out. If the pitching and hitting continue like it has the Rangers are the team to beat in the AL for sure.

Well Lewis has given up 8 runs in 12 innings, so I would say he is pitching bad..offense saved him in his first start

I didn't see his first start, but didn't he only give up 3 runs? His start Saturday was worse than his first, right? No, he hasn't been pitching as good as he is capable, for sure. Other than a hiccup or two by C.J., and Lewis' subpar starts, the Rangers have had solid pitching thus far. Thus far, I have been more impressed with the 3-4-5 pitchers than the 1-2s.

yes he gave up 3 in only 6 innings..and your right the 3-4-5 have been lights out so far..as long as bats keep producing the pitching will look great! lol

I have been very impressed with the way the team is playing. If they can keep it up they will certainly be the team to beat in the AL West. Did you guys see the boys playing slip & slide during the rain out on Friday? Just goes to show the great chemistry of this team. Let's keep it going Rangers.

Make that 9-1. The Rangers just beat the Tigers 2-0 in Detroit. Ogando goes seven innings and gives up 2 hits.

Yep. I just finished watching it. My thoughts...

1. Give it up FSSW play by play and color guys. Ogando is no Verlander. He may be down the line. But, he's
had two starts.

2. Miguel Cabrera needs to keep his head in the game. Bad base running blunder.

3. Ron Washington showed a lot of respect for Cabrera by walking him in the ninth. Either that
or he didn't like Perez' chances against him.

4. Victor Martinez was brought to Detroit to protect Cabrera and he failed to do so today. (See #3).

1. Verlander is overrated

2. You cant have your cake and eat it too.....just be glad cabrera is even on the team.

3. Every manager in the game would have done that. And it's Feliz, not Perez

4. Victor should have never left Boston

I dont think Washington was afraid to have Feliz face him, he played the numbers simple as that.

1. pfft! :hand:

2. C'mon man. Even a HS baseball player from Whitesboro
wouldn't have made that base running blunder.

3. I don't know why I keep wanting to call him Perez.

4. And Laird should've never left Detroit. Avila looks awful at the
plate. He couldn't hit a slow pitch softball with a tennis racket and
he damn near falls down after whiffing at a pitch.

Yeah, probably. I remember a manager walking Pujols with the
bases loaded and a 3 or 4 run lead. Now that's respect. lol

I hitter as potent as Pujols can ignite a spark and wreck a pitchers confidense in a hurry. Quiksand sets in for your team and you then have a 3 or 4 run defecit.

I wouldn't of pitched to either if I didn't have to.

Not really...it was actually the first time in 37 years that a move like that had been made according to Elias Sports Bureau.

I think this is a situation where we as fans expect to much from relief pitchers. He had a steller 2.03 ERA last year and even with today has a 2.08 so far this season

Still the best record in the league, so no worries

I agree with the stats, but of all pitchers we have, I have least confidence in him, and that is no change from last year. Just something about him. Partially because he works so far behind in the count ALL the time.

Just finished watching and I sure was hoping Miguel would hit a walk off grand slam.

Detroit might just might win a series for the first time this year tomorrow.

Max Sherzer (2-0) 5.73 ERA vs Dan(?) Bush who is a reliever that is gonna see his first action
of the year tomorrow I'm guessing?

The two losses for the Rangers this season so far have been day games. It does seem they hit the ball a lot better in night games.

4 runs on 10 hits yesterday really isn't bad hitting day.

Most days 4 runs would've been enough. The good news is O'Day won't be pitching today. The bad news is Josh Hamilton is out for 6-8 weeks because of a bonehead call by the third base coach.:( I certainly hope David Bush can provide a much needed quality start.

Not the coaches fault Hmabone DOVE headfirst into home..and I personally liked the aggresiveness, it is what Texas has become known for under Washington

While I agree with you that the head first dive was a mistake, it never would've come to that if he hadn't been sent. I didn't like the call to send him. He wasn't going to score.

no one is covering home plate..u take those chances..that is what helped Texas beat Tampa and NY in play-offs last year. Cant gripe about the failures and then laud the times it works. All goes hand in hand

I agree. While of course noone is happy about the outcome, taking chances and being aggressive is what has finally made the Rangers relevant.

A couple ex Phillies were on Mike and Mike this morning and
commented about this.

John Kruk blamed Hamilton. "Hamilton said he didn't want to run.
Well, if he thought something was going to happen he shouldn't
have no matter what the 3rd base coach said".

Mike Schmidt was asked about what the dangers of sliding head first
were and part of his response was "Pete Rose slid head first for
25 years and never got hurt."

I can see your point. I definitely don't think he needs to place blame anywhere but on himself for the "dive" that got him injured, nor do I think he needs to place blame on the coach. The decision to send him I do question, even though nobody was covering home plate. I still don't like the decision to send him, but I don't think the coach should be blamed for the injury. The injury is the result of Josh's decision to go head first instead of sliding like he should have.
