Saw where Stonewall County has a fire going that's burned 72,000 acres in just 3 days... The fire is 0% contained. There are over 400 firefighters there from as far away as Minnesota and Washington state.

A fire started up last weekend on the Camp Bowie training grounds right on the outskirts of Brownwood. They've gotten it put out a couple of times but it keeps starting back up. That fire I've heard has burned over 3,000 acres... but some places say 5,000 acres. Firefighters from as far away as Wylie and Plano are assisting.

Texas needs some rain.

Yes it is bad right now. I live about 1/2 mile from Camp Bowie and my house smells like smoke.

These fires are getting very scary.

FortDavis fire has already destroyed 40 homes.

I hear the one north of Abilene is a monster.

another around midland. I've heard un-officially close to 100,000 acres have burned and the rain last night isn't near enough to put a damper on things. There are going to be many families that need prayers. Bad news.

The ones here in Midland Saturday night were CRAZY!! I was amazed the number people I knew that were under mandatory evacuation.

We desperately need rain!

I'm reading my niece's updates on Facebook and she says the Lake Spence/Edith area outside Robert Lee (Coke County) has been evacuated. My sister-in-law's (her mom) home is close to the fire. Her dad and brother are out fighting it.

I think the Camp Bowie fire near Brownwood has finally been put out for good. Brownwood fire department and several volunteer fire departments in Brown County have been assisting in Eastland and Comanche counties with grass fires. An Eastland county volunteer firefighter was killed a couple of days ago after the fire spread so quickly that it surrounded him.

Brother-in-law said there are firetrucks from Dallas, Ft. Worth, San Antonio, and elsewhere there fighting the fires in Coke county and they aren't enough. Said it has burned all the way to San Angelo. Fire is on the south side of 158.

My brother has a house on PK and he was forced to leave. He went bact to the house a back way and then they came and told him to leave again. Last time I heard, he did not know whether he had a lake house or not.

Folks out just north of San Angelo are really fighting hard.

These folks are organizing food donations and such to help the firefighters from around the state. The firetrucks are running out of fuel because they can't get tankers in. c130's flying retardant from Del Rio. Over 100,000 acres burned. This is Texas, our land may burn, but our spirit is indestructible.

Brother-in-law has been battling the Coke County fires for four days straight with only about 3 hrs of sleep each night. He's had to defend his rural home three times now. The wind picks back up during the days and the fires rage again. His place alone has 3000 acres burned. Estimates are in excess of 100,000 acres total.

Some relatives of mine in the Austin area had their home completely burned to the ground yesterday. Please keep them in your prayers.

Just a reminder. Tonight at 8 pm people across the state are going to pray for rain.
God answers prayers, so don't forget.

More moisture coming in for a few days. Doesn't necessarily mean rain but the higher humidities will allow for the FF's to gain some ground. A Type 1 Team (the top of the line teams) for the US Forest Service is taking over the Possum Kingdom Complex today. They will be able to bring in as much equipment/aircraft as they can. Long term outlook not good - until the La Nina in the Pacific breaks we are looking at drought to persist or even worsen over the next two months.

It's killing me not being able to help but am holding down the fort here at the grasslands hoping we don't get any starts. Another Red Flag day today - high winds, low RH's and a wind switch this afternoon. Dangerous day for the hero's out on the lines.

Got word from my niece that the fires are out on their property outside of Robert Lee in Coke County. Says there is a chance for rain this evening. Please God, let it be so.

Getting a few sprinkles in Abilene right now, radar looks promising.
