But the ones at Waco are besides themselves.... they cannot stomach this at ALL!

This is supposed to be good news and we should all be happy. No need for Beast to ruin it all by pushing the rules violations. It is those type of things that could get these college posts banned by the moderators. I'm not intending to be critical but rather a friendly reminder.

Congratulations Lady Aggies! The National Championship is yours.

I have to comment on ESPNs obsession with putting ex-players as commentators and courtside reporters. Rebecca Lobo made Emmitt Smith look like Socrates........ :D

The Ags should be proud. As someone on ESPN pointed out, this is the first national championship in any major sport for A&M since 1939.

Yes it is. We can gripe all we want about Bill Byrne as AD, but he has taken the A&M Athletics Department to it's highest level ever. All but a few sports are performing at a high level. The Tech hex is over, as A&M has not lost to Tech in any sport since spring 2009. The two basketball programs have improved the most of any sport, and now the girls have reached the top. It is a good time to be an Aggie.

So ESPN classifies Women's Basketball as a major sport. uhm....
They would be wrong about ATM's first national championship since 1939:
Softball National Champions 83 and 87.
Mens and Womens Outdoor Track National Champions back to back in 2009 and 2010.

They specifically said major sport and spoke of football and basketball.

was it just me or was it noticeable how differently the ladies celebrated? instead of the typical connecticut swagger and partying, these girls were exhausted and tearful.....they had really wrestled a bear or two (no pun intended, baylor) and just acted relieved and spent.....wasnt like the celebrating and dancing after the stanford win.....they sure left it all on the court....

As for the softball championships, those were won before it was under the NCAA.

And, for some reason, the sports networks don't consider track and field or golf as major college sports.

Or maybe he's trying to figure the answer to "How many...does it take to put on a bumper sticker?". ;)

when i'd play a&m in college in roundball the yell leaders would help you up when you'd fall out of bounds and say stuff like "that sure looked like it hurt" and "i'd be afraid to go up against our guy if i were you".....that'd get old (that and in the 70's i had never seen guy cheerleaders) so one time i continued out of bounds after a layup, swatted one of the "yell" leaders on the butt and yelled loud enough where all could hear "you were really great last night"....i looked back as i was running to the other end of the court to see all the other guys just giving him hell......

didnt have to worry about being helped up and "encouraged" anymore.......:nerd:

That's actually pretty funny. Unfortunately for me, I love all the Aggie traditions, but I am one of "those" that wants to see a cheerleading squad out there either mixed in or doing their own thing. I lived in Aggieland long enough to know that there are tons of hot young women and no real sheep to speak of, but recruits from outside the area don't know that and believe Mack and Tubs when they point out the misconceptions.

very well stated.....its not serving them well, especially with the good inner city athletes they could easily recruit otherwise....
