Jose Canseco accused of subbing twin for fight
By Tim Chapman/AP
Twins often like to pull the old switcheroo, having one appear as the other, to great amusement. But it's not so funny when one of them is being paid to make in an appearance, and sends in his understudy.
That's what Celebrity Boxing alleges happened Saturday near Miami at a boxing match that was supposed to feature Jose Canseco. El Nuevo Herald says the promoters realized the Canseco who showed up was actually Jose's twin Ozzie. The Spanish newspaper says Ozzie was found out because he doesn't have Jose's tattoos on his bieceps.
El Herald says Ozzie was escorted out of the night club where the fight was scheduled, and that the promoters vowed to stop payment on a $5,000 check.
Jose Canseco didn't return phone calls but the former MLB slugger did criticize Celebrity Boxing on twitter, El Herald said.
