that's it..
last night we were running those kids through like cattle lol....... had LOTS of 7th and 8th graders (that's a good thing :) ) We had 2 sets of timers and pickers.. on the 2400, 800, 400 and 1600 meter - we'd start a heat and 30 or so secs later started the 2nd heat. got kinda hectic but we got out of there before 10pm - it was close but we made it :) Saturday should be another full day - 18 schools with most bringing boys and girls JV and Varsity :)

Thank you very much. now if I can only get the step son to ask his coaches what time they start and if there are prelims.

I'd be willing to bet there are no prelims - hope he does well, what's his event (s) ?

Typically no prelims for junior high, unless the "official" district meet. Everyone runs against time, and the helpers organize the heat times into the top 6.

Are you kidding about him asking what time each event starts? I can't understand why my kids still ask me what time an event is, and what time are we going home!

He is running 110 Hurdles and had no idea til this afternoon what time he was supposed to be there.

My one year in 2a, we had shirts printed with the meet schedule upside down so the kids could just look down and see it instead of constantly asking "when do I run?".

I have the schedule taped on the back of my stopwatch...the minute I hear "coach when is.." the stopwatch is in their face before they can spit out the rest.

from the pressbox announcer..................
"Down in the infield, the starter can't see the curve judges, if you are NOT participating in an event - get out of the infield..". 5 minutes later............. "Down in the infield, the stater can't see the curve judges, if you are NOT participating in an event, get out of the infield..........." 5 minutes later................. does that sound familiar??
I better get to bed....... 2400 starts at 9 AM....... should be a fun day...

no, sorry for the confusion..the Jr High track meet was Thursday - today was the Varsity and JV Gobbler Relays.......... I'd write more but I am totally exhausted..... 18 schools.. almost all of them brought boys and girls JV and Varsity teams.. I think we had 5/6 heats in most of the prelims.. We had gorgeous weather - was proud of the Cuero teams. I think Rockport boys won the Varsity boys by a few points over Cuero;... Round Rock Girls won.. the Cuero girls had a good showing.. Cuero V Boys won the Sprint and 800M Relays and came in 3rd in the Mile Relay. West Oso.. all I can say is Beware of the Howling Bear.. They have some legit athletes on their team..
