Intresting you have a different oppinon than most..

Democrats who fled Wisconsin are given heroes' welcome
By Dustin Weaver - 03/12/11 08:52 PM ET

The 14 Democrats who fled Wisconsin to block a vote on union legislation thanked protesters Saturday for supporting them during their self-imposed exile.

Calling themselves the "Fabulous 14," the Democrats appeared at a rally against a bill signed Friday by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) that ends most collective bargaining rights for public employees. Critics call the law an "assault" on unions, but Walker said the legislation is necessary to reduce the state’s budget deficit.

The Republican majority in the state Senate passed the union bill earlier in the week, ending a long impasse that began when Democrats fled the state.

Tens of thousands of people filled the streets of Madison, Wis., for the protest. Estimates of the crowd size ranged from 50,000 to 100,000 people.

The Democrats who held up the vote were given a heroes' welcome outside the Capitol in Madison. Chants of “thank you, thank you” were heard as each of the Democrats took a turn speaking to the crowd.

There were also those who are happy and cheer anytime something bad happens to the USA, including 9/11. That doesn't make them right.

Bottom line is that they failed to live up to their obligation to their constituents. (even the ones that voted against them) When things weren't going their way they tucked tail and ran away. Somehow I don't think that's what our founding fathers meant for our elected officials to do.

Somehow I don't think that's what our founding fathers meant for our elected officials to do. Well according to EVERY public oppinion poll out of wiconsin the actions of the 14 are supported. Lets face it just because a govenor gets elected does not make everything he does ok. they didnt do one thing against the law. If the polls and the people didnt support thier actions Im sure they would have come back . Thier actions were supported and encouraged by the people. This will play out over the next 3 months in recalls. IF the dems are recalled then your right. if the Republicans are recalled then your wrong. ALSO I want to point out that up to 100,000 people were in the protests and thanking them. your in the minority.

But by your logic we should repeal the unconstitutional healthcare legislation since only a minority of people support it, right?

But facts are that most support all the provisions of the health bill when asked about the individual provisions. Just curious. Just what about the health bill do you not like? Is it the part about baning insurance companies from excluding you for pre existing conditions. or being able to keep kids on till 25. ? Do you have health insurance? sure you do. so why you griping?

Let's hijack every political thread and turn it into a sports thread. That'll teach'em.:D

There are other alternatives that the democrats had at their disposal to address the issue, but they wouldn't listen. That's why you had the largest turnover in congressional history in the House this past November. The people spoke and they said they didn't like the direction our leaders were taking us in.

I did notice who turned it that way. I am now asking people to post their Elite 8 picks on his thread in the non-sports category.

I enjoy catching a few games once it gets to the sweet 16 if it is a team I care for. My problem is you have to plan on spending 30 minutes just to watch the last 2:00. It kills me! :(

It seems that starting with the first round there have been excessive commercials. Makes the games to long.

On another note, my Final Four are still intact even though my complete bracket is a disaster. Kansas will take it all.

The irony is, I posted to Cameron Crazy on another thread that Duke was "going down" just to poke at him---hope he forgives me....:D

well, as a long-time duke fan, i am doubly disappointed. but, on the bright side, i didn't pick a bracket this year, after getting the winner last year in my picks. so god was looking out for me ;)

Now i can just keep rooting for butler
