I know we will all disagree and we will all have a favorite. This will all be strictly opinion.

Heres the question, Who has been the best 3A football player, that you have witnessed, the last 10 years?

For me, its Jaxon Shipley. Best pure athlete I have ever seen in HS. Whats yalls?

i dont disagree, i have only seen him play one time. Stephen McGee and Jordan Shipley were two good ones. Kyle Lightsey is my homer choice. The kid from Aledo was damned good in the only game i watched. Not really sure thought. Thats a good question though.

Manuel Johnson - Gilmer '04
LaMichael James - Liberty-Eylau '06-'07
Dwight Smith - Carthage '08
Darian "Stump" Godfrey - Gilmer '07-'09 (especially '09)

It would be hard to pick a "best" out of this group.

It would be hard to pick a "best" out of this group. I know we have seen some good ones the last several years and some kids that had a lot of heart for sure................but the best pure dang athlete that I saw was Jaxson Shipley. I only saw one game which was Bwood/Carthage and their were some great players on both teams...............But IMO shipley was by far the best player on the field that night.

3a Jaxon Shipley
4a Jonathan Gray
5a Cedric Benson

Overall goes to Benson. A WR can't make as big of an impact on the game like a RB can. Also, Benson finished with a ton of hardware.

Either way, they all are fantastic

I'd have to agree Jaxon is one of the best players I've seen. And although I only saw him play in high school once, that was enough. I did see him play every week in 7th & 8th grade and we all knew he was gonna be special. The thing I noticed was his passion for the game even as a kid. You would always see him with a football in his hands. During varsity games when he was in middle school, he'd be on the sidelines tossing the ball around with his buds and not really paying much attention to the game going on. If he can get stronger and stay healthy, he'll excel at UT as well.

We played (and beat :D) IP in the third round in '05. I don't
remember a stand out DE. But, they did have Tyler Duggins(sp?).
He was their LT and was as big as a house. He went on to play

I saw Aledo and Seminole play each other that year in the playoffs. Shain was unbelievable. That was one of the most enjoyable games I have ever seen. He was almost like a 1-man band. Aledo went on and won state that year if I'm not mistaken (again).
