state team tennis tournament

state tennis tournament was held in san marcos this weekend.

abilene wylie dominated, again. they defeated lindale 10-0 in the finals. they lost a total of 4 matches this year at the region and state tournament (out of 133).

they have now won 8 state championships during the last 10 years and 4 in a year.

state championships in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, and now 2011.

additionally, they've won region each year since 2001, which is 11 years in a row.

congrats to the team and coaches.

Remember that team tennis is not a UIL sanctioned sport in 3a. It is sponsored by some sort of texas tennis coaches association. It is on the same level as power lifting. In these lean times I dont see why tax dollars are being spent on a non sanctioned activity.

This was for Team tennis in classes 3A-down.....the one you re thinking about is individual/doubles. 5A and 4A is UIL sanctioned and is played in the fall.

This past weekend is put on by the Tennis coaches association.
