Girls 8 and Under Div. II Regionals

My daughters youth basketball team made the Reg 4 regional tournament in the metroplex this past weekend. We went in as the 3rd place team from our city league. Normally doesn't happen but exceptions are granted sometimes. Top 3 teams were neck and neck in league.

Saturday and Sunday format, 2 pools, A and B. We were in B.
Guaranteed 3 game tournament. 2 games on Sat and minimum elimination game from bracket on Sunday. Here's how it went.

Saturday
Game 1 -- lost 8-4 to a rival Sville league team who beat us during league play ealier in season.
Game 2 -- lost 10-7 to a very good Mineral Wells team.
So, 0-2 after first day putting us in bottom of bracket playing second seeded team from Pool A on Sunday morning.

Sunday (basically back to back to back games)
Game 1 -- Won 18-15 against a Southlake team in TRIPLE OT!
Game 2 -- Won 12-11 against the rival Sville team in double OT who beat us the day before and in the season!
Game 3 -- Championship game... Won 10-8 against the very good Mineral Wells team in OT who beat the top seeded Sville team ealier that morning and us the day before! Unbelievable! The girls were whooped afterwards.

Very proud of these girls on how well they responded to adversity at this age. They never gave up even when they were down in all 3 games. They kept fighting their way back in and sealing the deal. Congrats to the Comets! State bound!

Well they certainly didn't take the path of least resistance...overtime, double-overtime, triple-overtime. Must have been a fun and exciting weekend. Congratulations and good luck going forward!

No they didn't! I'm proud of them but this is really throwing a kink in the soccer team I coach!! These next 2 weeks are going to be a scheduling nightmare trying to get in soccer and basketball. Live for the moment I suppose.:)
