Any of you have experience with power line network connections? I have my home network setup so that my one desktop is setup centrally and is near my cable modem and wireless router, and all my other devices connect wirelessly. However, I would like to be able to use a wired connection without having to drop any lines and install flush mounts. Amazon has a product based on a technology I'd read about a few years ago and it caught my interest.

So, any suggestions or recommendations?

This is what I'm referring to:

i have heard they work well, not always as fast as it may say on the box, but good enough to use as a basic internet connection, i wouldn't try to play any resource hog online games...

one reviewer said that particular model covered both plugs so that could be a consideration...

im a nerd and ran network cables to all the rooms of my house and punched them down...even put a patch panel in my office LOL....:nerd:

i say give it a shot - if it doesn't work, send it back...

I figured dropping Cat5 would be easy enough, plus I need to get up into the attic to drop cable lines anyway, so I can do two things at once. I'm just a sissy and have been avoiding going into the attic for as long as I can. :D

i got 1000ft of cat5e cable from THIS (http://myworld.ebay.com/satmaximum/) seller on ebay and it is awesome cable, easy to work with and seems durable...

i think i paid $45 for it (including shipping)

this is basically what i got - HERE (http://cgi.ebay.com/CAT5E-1000-FT-UTP-NETWORK-CABLE-BLUE-CAT5-BULK-CAT-5-/320510940933?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4a9ff0d705) - only difference is mine is white...

pic of all my ran cables coming into my office, going to the patch panel, and it all connects to a HP Pro Curve 12 port switch...

we have 2 wireless access points, the one shown there is close enough for my neighbors to connect to, so they use that one, and we use one in our living room...they pay half the internet bill so that's why we have the traffic split over to access points...

every room in the house has 2 network ports you can plug any rj45 compatible device into (except for kitchen, bathrooms, and master bedroom) - the mast bedroom doesn't because the office shown is attached and i didn't see a need to have another two ports just down the hall....

i did it because i thought it would be cool - i convinced the wife it would add to the re-sell value of the house....:D

Not a bad price. Their RG6 is about $15 cheaper than what I paid at Home Depot as well.

Looks good. I particularly like how you all painted the wood paneling. We did the same a couple of months ago since there was no drywall under it.

Restart in safe mode and do a system restore to a date earlier than when it happened. Download the free Malwarebytes.org and run a scan. Delete everything it finds. You should be good but for precaution update your anti-virus and run an anti-virus scan also.

I was at work and we were debating the lyrics to a song. So, I
get on my PC and do a google search looking for those lyrics.
I clicked on one of the links provided and my screen was
quickly swamped with porn pop ups flashing all over it.

Needless to say I went straight to the IT department and
explained what happened. It was emabarrassing having to stand
there waiting for one of our very christian IT guys to rid my PC
of the virus with those images popping up everywhere.
