Sweetwater Freshman Caleb Hoover throws a no hitter in the win. This kid has mucho potential. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in his first start last weekend in San Angelo.

Strange ending in the Ozona vs. Sweetwater game. The umpire called time with Sweetwater at bat and runners on base. Other games (here and other tourney's) they played out the inning according to normal baseball rules. If you go by that Sweetwater should have finished their at bat and possibly changed it from a tie to a win.

Our D has been great...but gave up 5 unearned runs tonite and well ....they will be alright for Saturday. Mustangs play 3 more..it's going to be cold(er) and windy...

Sweetwater continues to play several Freshman/Sophs. and they played well. One freshman pitched 5 strong innings and worked out of basses loaded with 1 out and did not allow a run. That will go a long way in his development.

Things get tough this week... Tuesday vs. Midland Greenwood and then the AISD tourny...Abilene Wylie, Wichita Falls, Abilene High and Abilene Cooper ...this one will test our depth.

Hmm...stiff competition. Brownwood, Abilene Wylie, Big Spring, and Snyder is not quite the same caliber as Ozona, Clyde, Post, Slaton, and Lamesa.

Curious to see how the Greenwood matchup turns out.

Lol. Same caliber? Sweetwater finished 8-21 last year and one of those wins was against Snyder. :doh:

I'm more worried about Brownwood, Wylie and those undisciplined athletes from Big Spring
than I am Snyder.

Hehe....we shall see. Just don't get your hopes up when you are beating teams like what you played in the tournament. I'm sure things are better this year though, after all, your coach learned a thing or two while in Snyder. ;)

Ahh, heck. I'm just stirring things up a little. Been kind of boring around here the last couple of months. Had to start something to keep me coming back.

Oh, and as for the 26-10 defeat, that was litterally, our 6,7,8, and 9 pitchers. We were putting kids out there that hadn't thrown since little league. The 4-1 was against our ace. No doubt Cooper has a solid team.

Well I agree to a point....you win the games you are supposed to win ..and the Mustangs have done that so far. This weekend will tell where they are at...vs. 5A mostly...in the AISD tourny

I saw the schedule and the best I remember Sweetwater opens at Wylie on Thursday, Shallowater at McMurry Thursday night and then plays Wichita Fall on Friday, Abilene High and Abilene Cooper on Saturday.

I looked at Shallowater and we have two common opponents played so far.

Slaton who we lost to 4-3 and Greenwood who we beat 3-0.

Shallowater has 10 run ruled Slaton once and Greenwood twice.
