I was optomistic at first for a pretty quick settlement between the players and the owners, but after yesterday, I'm beginning to have my doubts---we may be in for a fairly long strike. Only time will tell--and we'll see as the season approaches, if the girls do indeed get prettier at closing time.

IF a deal gets worked out, it won't be worked out until the last minute. Same with NBA.

Could be going into next sports seasons with the two top money making leagues in lockouts. I know it won't be as a big of a hit the NHL took, but I'm betting there are several folks from that league that will step up and tell the folks of the NFL and NBA that it's not a great idea!

As long as the NFL owners are guaranteed to get TV money even if there's no football, they hold the hammer. Once the players start missing those game checks in September, they'll cave.

I don't think that's the case in the NBA. The union is stronger, the players are richer and the overhead for the owners isn't as big, so there won't be as much urgency on either side to settle. I think it's likely the NBA will be out a whole year.
