And which team should we look for next year in the playoffs?

Glen Rose deserves to go to the playoffs, but the head to head with Venus and the loss to Everman killed their chances. They finished the season with a record of 7-3, 5-2 in district 8-3A.

Childress was pretty good. 7-3 record but in the same district with Graham, Vernon, and Iowa Park. 3 district losses and your out.

Winnsboro and Pleasant Grove both had decent teams this year, they just sort of imploded at the end of the season.

With a win over Mexia last Friday night, Groesbeck could have won district 19-3A outright with a 6-1 record. Instead, they finished in a 4-way tie at 5-2 and was the odd man out.

Gatesville, hands down. The best 3A team not playing this weekend.

WestOrange Stark Mustangs.. :D :D Personally I would vote for Kirbyville.

Speaking of 4A...Ozen was a good team that is staying home with WOS.

its not 3A...but from 13-5A Copperas Cove and Waco High...that was, i think, one of the toughest 5A districts in the state....

I'd give a nod to the Raymondville Bearkats out of district 32. They played a very tough non-district schedule, and finished district play with a 4-2 record....but the head-to-head loss to La Feria killed them, and they're sitting at home. They finished with a 6-3 record (one game that was cancelled due to excessive rain) which is the exact record Port Isabel and Lyford (both playoff bound teams) have.

I will agree with Buckeye80. Winnsboro self destructed in the last 2 games of the season. Is it the coaching or the boys themselves? This is two years in a row that they could have been in the playoffs but for some reason just could not get it done.

More than likely Winnsboro will be 2A next year and unless they self destruct next year,I see them making the playoffs for the first time in 3 years. But do not take this to the bank.

But do not take this to the bank.I thought Mineola was the smallest school in the district. Are they going down too? I hate to see where the UIL will shove us this time if that happens.

Winnsboro is right on the bubble. Depends on what the UIL does. I have heard several numbers ranging from 420-450. We will have to wait until February and see what happens.

As far as Mineola, I do not know what they turned in. With Mineola having a population of well over 4500 people you would think that they would be one of the bigger schools. We have two private schools here in Mineola and a bunch of home schoolers which really hurts the enrollment.

I really hope that Winnsboro and Gilmer stay in the same district. There has really been three good games played the last three years. :) eek!

The best team I say this season that didn't make the playoffs was Coldspring. They shut us down the first half completly. They've always had the athletes there and they have their share of big boys too. I look for them to rebound next year

Kirbyville. That district should get to send 4 teams.
