Anybody else losing power due to the Texas declaration of a state of emergency?

Power has stayed on here at my office, but my wife said that they've already cut power off for 15 minutes at a time three separate times this morning.

Seems it's happening other than just Austin and Dallas.

So far in the last 2 hours our Coleman and Brownwood stores have been without power for about 10 minutes. Our Muleshoe store just called and said they will be down for 10 minutes within the hour.

Should make for a fun day in the IT dept :D

Dang you, you beat me to it :D

Yes we are having it. Twice so far. once at 7am and then again at 8:30. Hard to work from home when that happens.

Power went out at my house about 10 minutes before I left for Belton. Now classes are canceled until 10AM at UMHB because of power outages.

But seriously, 1st time happened at 8 and the 2nd one happened around 9:35.

Hope they don't do this all day long. And they better be glad I wasn't in the middle of playing Call of Duty.

That's what I'm a bit concerned with...I'd hate to see what happened if someone was in the middle of saving progress on their video games or do a system update.

It can't be good for all the electronics that people have to keep getting powered on and off.

We have a fire place and propane heating, but I'm worried about our well if the electricity goes off.
The power went off for 30 minutes at our friends house which just long enough for the well to freeze up without the heat lamp on.

Aransas Pass too! Someone forgot to tell them it was only supposed to be 10-45 minutes long...ours was out for two hours. When you work in a bank you close and lock the doors, so we sat here in the dark doing nothing. I wish I would have brought a book to work.

Mine has gone off 4 times now. But none of them have been longer than 15 minutes.

The latest update at 12:30pm said that the rolling blackouts in Abilene will cease for today. I have several friends that went without power for more than 3 hours this morning...including several in our neighborhood. It's 11 degrees outside now, -4 windchill. Brrrrrrr!!

Spent the morning busting ice off the railroad crossing so we could switch cars tomorrow here in Abilene. Ice build up will actually get bad enough to derail a train. Now I look out and it is snowing again. I am native to this area and the only other time I can remember any weather this bad was around '83 when it stayed below freezing for two weeks.

I think that was was the year the saltwater in the Intracoastal Waterway froze and redfish/trout were floating up everywhere. Massive fish kill.
