ROCKPORT - On Thursday evening Rockport Superintendent Joseph Patek will recommend Huey Chancellor as the schools next Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. We are the first news outlet to report this story.
Liz Flinn, the Director of Human Resources for the Aransas County Independent School District, confirmed this with me Monday afternoon.
"We are very excited to have Huey coming to Rockport," she said.
Chancellor spent the last year as Athletic Director / Head Football Coach at Pine Tree High School in Longview, Texas. Prior to that he won 115 football games and had just one losing season in 14 campaigns at Bellville High School.
He'll replace Guy Grover who has manned the Pirates sidelines since 2007 compiling a record of 19 and 22 over the four year span, reaching the playoffs just one time.
Chancellor should officially be named Rockport's Head Football Coach on Thursday evening.
