Should make some noise in the THSPA this year, as a team they won the Smithville invitational meet, had a 275 break all 4 meet records and total 1850, had the top 2 114's that are 1 and 2 in the region and had a 148 and a super heavyweight both finish 5th in their respective weight classes

With all the budget concerns, I dont see how schools can afford to have a powerlifting team. Tax payers are paying for a "sport" that is not even sanctioned by the UIL. In these tough times, I could see powerlifting being something that could be cut out.

Get ready for a lot of things like this to fall to the Booster Clubs. That is okay with me. If it is not UIL sanctioned I would gladly donate to keep these sort of things going.

Probably just because the UIL does not recognize it as such

Powerlifting is one of the cheapest school events that there is, plus alot of schools don't put alot of money into it, i could see a sport such as soccer getting cut before powerlifting because it helps with other sports as well

Just cut baseball, then you can have a boys AND girls powerlifting team, and money left over to add to the football budget. Win/win!

Bass, for once I agree with you. There are lots of schools that do not support baseball. It would be better for the kids of those districts to cut the sport all together. It would save a ton of money plus the kids could then go play baseball on their own and not have to abide by the UIL rules.
