House Bill 106 would consolidate all school districts in each Texas county into one system with one central administration.

What ya'll think of this bill?

Bad idea for most areas that wont pass. I could see it being cheaper is some of the tiny schools that are near other tiny districts would totally consolidate though and form one middle school and one high school.

Less schools mean less money for the UIL?

If you read the article, it suggests that they are really just looking at consolidating the administration and having a county wide school board. Right now they aren't looking at eliminating local schools but I imagine that is where it would head. I am for some consolidation but not the way the legislature is looking to do it this time.

Would be a great idea... it would cut administration rather than cutting teachers.

Bill would mean Highland Park gets dropped in with DISD.

Bill dies.
