Who are some good shot putters and discus throwers that will be around this year?

Watch for Sr. Josh Patterson of Burnet. He was an animal last year. Big strong country boy who loves to split wood with an axe. Too bad he didn't play football.....

I bet Jordan Roos of Celina will be strong.

Pretty sure Longoria from Brownwood qualified for state last year in the discus.

Roos threw 59'2" with a broken foot and a boot to win State last year. Not likely someone is going to sneak up on that!

Unless he gets hurt, everyone else is chasing Roos. He will win both the shot and discus.

bwood,

Do you think he can give Ballio's record a run?

He will certainly be in the neighborhood. Hayden threw better in the summer after he graduated with 5 throws over 70', including one of 75' and change at the Summer Track State Meet. When he was a Jr he threw 65' at the State Meet and I think he was about 68' or 69' at the State Meet his senior year. Jordan is taller but I think that Hayden's feet are better. Let's just say this, it is certainly uncommon to have two throwers of this caliber overlapping one another. Hayden was still only 17 when he threw the 75' throw which makes him 2nd only to Michael Carter all time for 18 and under. Jordan will be fun to watch this year.
