ATLANTA -- An attorney says Damon Evans, the former University of Georgia athletic director arrested with a female companion in his car during a traffic stop last summer, has pleaded guilty to driving under the influence.
Attorney Steve Weiner said Wednesday that Evans pleaded guilty Jan. 19 in municipal court and sentenced to a year of probation, fined $750 and ordered to perform community service. He says the 41-year-old was ordered to undergo an alcohol and drug evaluation and participate in a panel for Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
Evans was arrested June 30, minutes before a contract to pay him more than $500,000 annually was to begin. The officer's report said he saw a pair of red lady's panties between Evans' legs when he pulled him over. Evans resigned days later
