What is the rule on this? If anything other than the palm of the hand touches is he down?

It does appear that his wrist touched.

How is that the moral to the story? The whistle not blowing AND the play not being overturned should mean the moral to the story is even with instant replay not all calls are correct.

They looked at the replay and they determined that he was not down or that they could not tell for sure he was down. end of it. Some calls and plays are just so close you just cant tell for sure. those plays just happen and are part of the game.

Don't leave the game to the officials or instant replay. Take the game out of their hands by how you play.

Sort of like the interception by Oregon in the first half? I still think that was an interception.;)

There is no way the wrist in that position could touch the ground unless the whole forearm touches. I was for Oregon but the kid made a great play and thats all that should be said about it

Amen! The one rule that defensive players overlook because it doesn't come into play very often is ...... play until you hear a whistle regardless of what you thought you saw.

That's where it happened! Arkansas game. I remembered another team getting a TD taken off the board because of a similar call, but I thought it was an NFL game. Oh well, I think Auburn would have still won, but some consistency in the interpretation of what happens on the field would be nice.
