Are they the auburn tigers or the auburn war eagles? Explanation please

They're the Tigers. War Eagle is just our battle cry, kinda like "Gig 'Em" for Texas A&M or "Hook 'Em" for Texas.

I think the story goes a civil war vet brought back a baby eagle to campus...and it would fly around campus.
