Did Newton get cancelled this week by the storm?

Yes. The Newton - Kelly game was cancelled. Probably a good thing for both teams as neither one would have received much benefit, especially Beaumont Kelly.

Why do you have Forney so low? eek!

Forney has been pretty good all year...only loss coming to Aledo early and Aledo is 5-0.....but this year is really balanced....it is hard to justify putting them ahead of anyone that is in front of them at the moment..but they aren't far...if they keep winning I am sure they'll be close to the Top 10 by the postseason..

Matt-if you're going to rank Burnet #2 I'd rank Marlin #3. They had to go to OT to beat Marlin and then Marlin beats the best 4A has to offer. I think Marlin deserves to be higher than #19, but that's just my opinion

Scout24, after giving Marlin their props for both the Burnet game and then the stunning win over the 4A team, one still has to look at the fact that Marlin does have 2 losses. That does play heavy in the way teams are stacked. Very hard to place them in front of teams that have not been beaten this year. That's just the way the ball bounces.

Looks pretty good Matthew. The next few weeks should be interesting.

Big19-records are so misleading, some teams play the easiest schedules. I know Marlin lost to Matt's #2 team Burnet in OT, so that loss is misleading. Obviously there shouldn't be much space btw Marlin and Burnet since their game went into OT, but what does everyone else think?

I think Marlin is a top 10 team, but with a 3-2 record you just can't rank them above the perennial powers that are still undefeated. If Marlin wanted to be ranked they should have started playing like they are capable of a little sooner. They will be ranked soon if they keep winning, and I think they will.

I totally agree with Chris. Those early losses hurt, and they are definately what is dampering Marlin in the ratings. With 2 losses, you can't necessarily demand a top 10 rating, unless of course you lost to 2 3a top 5 teams I guess. Even then, losses are just that in the eyes of most ppl who command polls...

Marlin had a huge win...no doubt....but who would you rank them ahead of?? All the teams ahead of them have beaten some good teams with maybe the possible exception Celina but they have a 66 game winning streak or whatever it is now...granted Marlin got a huge win over Ennis...but one game a season doesn't make
