I'm an Auburn fan through and through, but I had a hard time picking this game. I think that Auburn has the two best players on the field by a large margin (Newton and Fairley), but I think Oregon's a deeper team and is stronger top to bottom.

I hate to pick against the better overall team, but I just can't see Cam Newton allowing the Tigers to lose this game. I'd compare this to the Vince Young national championship--the better team lost because of the greatness of one player.

I'll be pulling for Oregon!

They have the East Texas speed (LaMichael James) that Auburn won't be able to keep up with!

Oregon 45
Auburn 33

But the game will be closer than the final score. I'm thinking an Oregon pick-six wraps up the victory in a nail-biter.

I think Oregon's speed is just relentless. I think they eventually pull away and win it by 10 or so.

Auburn is on the East part of their state, while Oregon is on the west side of their state.

This is an easy decision: Auburn Rolls
There is no question that EAST is bigger, stronger, & faster.

Auburn 27
Oregon 21
(I think this will look like TCU/Wisc. Lots of scoring early then D steps up)

Rooting for the DUCKS!!!

I think that if Cam Newton played for USC, this thread would be about something other than the score.

Cam knew better---he wanted to play for a team that has a shot at a NC.....With Pete gone, the USC water has drained down the toilet....:D

I think this game is a collegiate Brownwood-Carthage, Part Deux, and Auburn will play the role of Carthage.

I would agree with the premise that TCU is number two. People try to compare the pac ten to the sec and that is like jv to varsity. Oregon is good. But Auburn is more battle tested.

Because Auburn is east of East Texas... they don't need to recruit East Texas speed... there is more speed in their home state because they are further east!

The East Texas speed line ends at the Texas-Louisiana border and starts to slow down the farther East you go. Once you hit the far East Alabama line, it starts to go back up again.

Normally id take a team from a way more stacked conference such as Auburn and the SEC over a PAC 10 team, however, I think all and all, Oregon is much quicker on the edges and out of the backfield. I think the O-Lines of both teams are about equal. Auburn Defense is probably better but I think that Oregon offense has the abilty to be a 'shell shocker". I think Oregon comes out and uses every bit of the football field on offense and does enough on defense to slow Auburn down just enough.

I am glad you cleared that up because I was afraid schools would start recruiting in India and perhaps Bangladesh if all Easterners are faster.
