With it all but a foregone conclusion now that Jason Garrett will remain the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys (Jerry said an announcement could come as early as today), I thought I'd stir up some conversation on who you guys think would be the best choice or best fit for the organization at defensive coordinator, which you could argue might be the most important change that the team makes this offseason.

Paul Pasquiloni did an OK job as the interim, but I'm not sure I like the idea of him taking over full-time.

Possibly..I know Caper's thinks alot of Garrett and would have been his DC if Garrett would have taken a HC job in 07

I'd like to see them go after a successful college DC like Dick Bumpas at TCU. Whoever it is, I'm pretty sure it won't be Pasquiloni. I think Dom Capers would also be good.

He didn't make a good showing last night. They looked like they were having troubles recognizing offensive formations and adjusting to shifts. The defense just didn't look prepared and that is on him.

I dont want a college DC becoming the DC..make him a position coach is fine, but IMO your asking alot for a College DC to transition to being a Pro DC

I don't think we get Dom Capers away from Green Bay. He would be a good choice. What about John Fox or Marvin Lewis?

Not only would all of these college guys mentioned be thrown into a raging inferno, but not a single one of them are 3-4 guys. Jerry has invested so much money in players that fit the 3-4 scheme that I do not see them transitioning to a 4-3 (Bud Foster) or a 4-2-5 (Bumpas) anytime in the foreseeable future. Capers would be a great fit. Not sure he would leave Green Bay for Dallas, but he would be a great fit. Any of the Parcells/Belicheck/Dick Lebow coaching tree would be a great fit in Dallas.

Ron Rivera would have been good but he is interviewing in Carolina.

Latest rumor is that Todd Bowles is in town to interview for the "head coaching" position but will be offered the DC position.
