Any ideas on who might be leading the Mavericks next year?

The team was 0-10 after going 9-2 and winning the 29-3A title the year before.

Since 2000: *Playoffs
2000: 3-7
2001: 4-7* New Coach
2002: 0-10
2003: 0-10
2004: 6-4
2005: 5-5 New Coach
2006: 3-8*
2007: 2-8 New Coach
2008: 7-4*
2009: 9-2*
2010: 0-10 New Coach
2011: ???

Pearsall has had some success in the past. I know they beat Freer in a first round playoff game in 1958 20-13 and in a regular season game they beat Freer again in 1966 by a trick long pass 7-6.

They've had 8 coaching changes over the last 14 years. Hard to build stability like that.

Heck, Kiff Hardin is the second longest tenured coach the school has had since 1955 and he was there for six years, one less than the longest-tenured coach, Gerald Klett.

Hardin won a title at Gatesville in 2000 and former Pearsall coach (1975-76) Mike Williamson won a state title at Bandera in 2003.

Didn't Kiff Hardin have the most successful sesason in Pearsall history? That dude could make the playoffs at Presidio.

Hope they get someone that the admin will support as well as works well with the kids. I know a couple of really good and well qualified coaches with prior AD experience at the 2A level. Wonder if any of them will be applying? ;)

1995 I believe. They went three rounds deep, losing 33-0 to Lampasas. Pearsall's had some great years prior to that though, making the quarterfinals in 50, 51 and 57 and 58. They also won a pair of regional titles in the 40s when that was the furthest teams advanced.

whats the story with Pearsall....was searching for info...picking brains about this place....and heard stories about head coaches staying a little as three days and a few months....sounded like these coaching changes have been going on for along time.............did hear great things about the Klett-Hardin Eras......and about a heck of baseball coach they had about that time.

can any insiders list coaches this place has had and their tenures there.

I would have thought it might be a good place ...S.Texas hunting...close but yet not too close to a major city..........and my dealings v. S.Texas teams is the kids usually work extemely hard.

From the very little I know ( :D ) I think politics really screws this place up. Now I know EVERY town has to deal with some politics, but from what I've heard over the years; Pearsall takes the cake!

Demographics not conducive to successful football programs, but citizens of the town are not aware of it. Plus, from two former HCs there(one who actually played there as well), the politics are insane!

Just curious, what about the Demographics makes them not conducive to successful football?

Just what I was told. Never been to the city, itself. But I would imagine that means that there is a shortage of athletic kids there.

Let's just say they have a whole bunch of kids that are in the 5'7"-5'9", 150-175-lb. range. Linemen consist of 5'9"-5'11 guys anywhere from the 170-260-lb. range.

They'll occasionally have that stud back, QB or lineman or linebacker but usually that's the norm.

Well, like I said, Klett and Hardin have been the largest tenured coaches there since the 50s. Klett was there 7 years and Hardin 6 years.

Since Hardin:
1997: Kevin Sprinkles (2-8)
1998: Bobby Ortiz (10-1)
1999: Homer Hernandez (7-4)
2000: Hernandez (3-7)
2001: Ortiz (4-7)
2002: Ortiz (0-10)
2003: Ortiz (0-10)
2004: Ortiz (6-4)
2005: Shane Wilson (5-5)
2006: Wilson (3-8)
2007: Ted Maple (2-8)
2008: Maple (7-3)
2009: Maple (9-2)
2010: Jody Cantu (0-10)
