WOW, Butch Davis almost suffered a humiliating loss because his special teams ran onto the field while the offense attempted to spike the ball. Went to review and they ended up having 1 sec left. In OT now.

UNC would have been at least the ACC champion had they been able to play all the players who were suspended by the NCAA.

True, but their names were not Terrell Pryor and Cam Newton. Funny what happens to a lower tier team when it comes to NCAA rulings.

So, exactly what happened on that last play? I thought an offensive penalty ran 10 seconds off the clock in that situation?

HS has no clock "run off" fouls.

Heck of a game and I guess there is no run off penalty. Tennessee lost the game on a missed PAT in regulation and 3-4 personal fouls on NC's last drive. It was a great game though. Tough INT for the freshman QB for TN in overtime.

NC probably should not have even been able to snap the ball to spike it. When the officials saw subs coming in the umpire should have come up to stop the snapper from snapping so the defense could react to the subs. In the seconds it would have taken for defense to be given a chance to react time would have run out

the runoff rule is for presnap penalties anyways. this was a penalty for too many players on the field during the play. so doesnt pertain

There definitely needs to be some tweaking to the rules. We refs have discussed this play to death:

Offense is down 20-18 near end of game. They have no timeouts and have just completed a 8 yard pass bringing up a 2nd and Goal at the 2 with 6 seconds on the clock and clock running. The QB knows he needs to get clock stopped so does not wait for all his team to get to line of scrimmage and set. He gets the snapper there and has the ball snapped while the team is still getting set. He spikes it and 1 sec is left on clock. Yes they will get a 5 yard penalty for the illegal shift but the clock will not start until the snap so they will have plenmty of time to get the fg team in. This is just wrong! But this is the current rule
