I've been undecided on seeing this. Geez, it was John Wayne. I think I'll give it a shot!! :D Thanks for sharing your opinions.

I LOVE John Wayne..got that from my dad, but I can honestly say he was a one note actor, that is why I cant wait to see Bridges in that role

Yes, but he could play that note so well. I do like Jeff Bridges alot. I was hoping they would do this movie justice. Sounds like they did. Can't wait to see it now.

We saw it, thought it was great. Then came home and True Grit was on tv....almost line for line.

Watch the first one with Wayne...just before you go.

That will help you enjoy it.

I though the movie was great, Bridges is top of his game right now. Tron is pretty good too.

Sorry, I don't agree with him being a one note actor. Later on in life he did mainly westerns, but he was tremendous in a lot of different movies. He was a better actor than people give him credit for. Look at his older movies and you can see the depth to his acting. And does anyone remember the depth and emotion he showed when he wore the pink bunny suit on Laugh-In? :nerd:

The dialogue is actually from the book by Charles Portis. I saw it last night after watching the Duke's version the day before.
Little Mattie Ross makes this movie.

This version is much more realistic in pretty much every aspect and is on the same level as "Open Range" and "Unforgiven".
Don't try to compare it to the Duke's version. It is like trying to compare the Duke's War movies to Saving Private Ryan.

The outdoor scenes were filmed around Blanco and Granger.

It is very entertaining and I highly recommend it.

And I am a big fan of all the Duke's War Movies and Westerns!

saw it and like was said before - don't try to compare. Some great lines - didn't know that Texas Rangers rode sheep! Bridges is great as Rooster. Will be one of the few DVD's I buy and watch over and over...............

Wife and I went this morning to see it. It was okay but I found out I don't like to watch remakes. I knew everything that was going to happen. Kinda ruined it for me. It was well done and I liked it over all. I just won't pay to see remakes anymore.

LOVE the John Wayne westerns and "True Grit" was a good one. Wasn't sure about seeing the remake but I'm SO glad I did. It was great! Different ending for all of the main characters but that was okay. You've got to see it!

The different ending went along with the book ending, not the John Wayne ending.
