Well you all know my vote.

Carthage Bulldogs Resume:

* 3 State Championships
* Defeated the 2010 Brownwood Lions.

Who else can make claim? Liberty Hill, Gilmer, Celina

It's obviously HAS to be Carthage. Who can argue for any other team? Liberty Hill deserves runner up status..Gilmer too...Celina...who am I missing here?

If your going for the DECADE then have to look at the whole picture and not just a 3-4 yr window IMO

Need to define the decade. 2000-2009 or 2010-2019? Carthage is the team of the last three years!

Celina--4 State Championships, 6 State Championship appearances from 00-10'. While it did begin in 98', the Statewide 68 consecutive win record (prev held by those people Carthage beat this year), and several other records were completed and established in this decade.

Yes I know some of this happened in 2A but I am talking team of the decade in ALL classes....:)

You are correct. 2000-2009 was the 1st decade of this century and 2010-2019 will be the 2nd decade.

Well...knowing what we do know now (Carthage winning big this year), Imight still vote for them. But you makegood points...its gotta be 2000-2009 to be fair. Who in 3A had the most championships (is it 2?), and maybe WOS-87 could do a spreadsheet of who had most wins, playoff wins, yards, points, etc. But still, I think you gotta go with those who won rings, then decide (LH would rank higher in this than I thought...and I am not pleased about that!)

I say its between Everman, Celina & Liberty Hill

TheDOCTORdre

Celina, Gilmer and Wylie each have 3 appearances which is the most number of appearances by a team.

Everman, Gilmer, Liberty Hill, and Carthage each have 2 rings which is the most number by a team.

And only LH and Carthage have them back to back, which we all know is awfully difficult. I cant help but to be swayed by Carthage's win this year.

With the amount of wins..state titles, state final apperances, 10 plus win seasons THRU THE WHOLE DECADE I think Gilmer is the 3A Team of the decade

From 2000-2009, Gilmer went 112-17 overall and 45-3 in district, 3 state finals appearances, 2 state titles, 7 seasons with atleast 10 wins, 5 seasons with atleast 12 wins and 9 consecutive undefeated district championships.

Also went 23-7 in the playoffs.

Gilmer
The Buckeyes were the most consistent team in 3A in the decade of 2000- 2009.

Gilmer 2000-2009, no question. Winning percentage and state championship appearances and titles all combine to be unsurpassed!

Celina 2000-2009:

132-16

4 titles: 2000, 2001, 2005, 2007

6 appearances: 2000, 2001, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008

Winning percentage: 90.4%

7 district championships

42-6 playoff record

I know 4 years was in 2a but still, those numbers are beyond impressive

I wouldn't think 2A successes would count in a 3A team of the decade discussion...

I really don't see one you could narrow it down to. If you say it's 2001-2010 then you have huge varieties of who was good. Forney, Burnet, Everman dominated 01, 02, 03. A different group mid-decade and Carthage the last few years.

If I HAD to pick ONE it would be Gilmer. They had success spread out over the entire decade. 04, 07, 09. That is, with the exception of a stud or two that played in 07 and 09, a completely different starting lineup in each state title appearance. They didn't have just one dominant class who had their success as juniors and then as seniors, but then fell off the map.

But not all 3A and Gilmer was. Celina should be the 2A team of the decade.

My vote would go for Gilmer or Celina, but I am not complaining about Wylie's record from 2000-2009...

107-24 overall

7 seasons with at least 10 wins

3 seasons with at least 12 wins

3 state title appearances

1 state title

26-9 in playoffs

Haven't missed the playoffs since 1993...

I'll take it!!

that is why IMO Gilmer is it..no losing seasons in the 2000's..two 8 win seasons in 01 and 02(8-3 both years)...then this run of wins

13,16,10,10,14,12,15,9

Celina does not need to limit themselves to any classification. 00-09 Celina Bobcats Texas HS team of the decade! Who has better numbers?

bobcat4life

Even if you take out the 2a years, Celina was impressive:

2002: 11-1 after moving up, including wins over Gainesville, Pottsboro, Little Elm, and a district title with an enrollment of 347
2003: 11-2 record, only losses to 3A D1 Champ Gainesville and to Manuel Johnson-led Gilmer
2006: Lost to LH in the D2 title game on a last second field goal after moving up again. 15-1 record
2007: 16-0 State Champs. Enough said
2008: Slow start to season, but finished with a great playoff run, averaging 50 points a game before running into Dwight Smith and Co. at Carthage (Smith was probably the best player Ive seen in person). 12-4 record
2009: Rough year with injuries, but still a second round appearance before upset loss to Kennedale. 7-5 record

overall: 75-13 record, 1 title, 3 state game appearances, 7 playoff appearances
