Cortlyn did a heck of a job on defense too! I thought this was one of his best games. He was really a playmaker!

Is it only 3A players, being that there were 2 teams?

not that i think he has a chance of winning this, and shouldn't with morgan's numbers, but just in case some of you don't know:

sherman gilbert - #1 - coldspring

rushing - 23 carries - 163 yds 7.1 yds/carry - best total rushing yds and yd/carry of either team

receiving - 1 reception - 36 yds

total yardage - 199 yds - best output for any non qb position on the field that night, even more outstanding when he did it against the best defense that night on the field....

morgan deserves the potw, but gilbert definitely deserves his props for numbers when compared on the same field with last weeks winner......

Carthage Offensive Line - protecting Morgan. Priceless, how can you gather stats for a dominate line in a State final game?

I agree. I guess measure the amount of time Morgan had to throw over the entire game. lol

It cracks me up when kids that play QB or RB have huge games and take all the credit when interviewed and don't give props to their O-lines. Spotlight syndrome I suppose.

here's a stat for them....coldspring vs athens, at least 10 sacks: coldspring vs wimberley, at least 7 sacks: coldspring vs carthage, didn't even breathe on morgan....they were mortals on run blocking but were out of this world on pass blocking....if i could have morgan or their line, it wouldnt be a choice.....or as said earlier, its a no brainer......congrats, big men.....

Well stated. I know Brownwood's D got to him a couple of times for sacks when they were used to getting to QB's a lot more. Great O-line indeed.
