I am very proud of Brownwoods Graylon Brown and his accomplishments. Since I follow Brownwood and not so much any other school outside our district, I was curious what other Qbs put up monster numbers this year. Here are Graylons, please post your as well.

Passing:
251 of 374 4036 yards 47 Tds 6 Ints.

Rushing:
97 carries 678 yards 11 Tds.

Total
4714 Yards 58 Tds.

This is not a me bragging on Brownwood thread. I am really curious about some of the other Qbs #'s.

Not taking away anything from Brown (the kid does have skills and I saw for myself 3 times this season) but having a receiver that can catch balls that would be dropped by the vast majority of high school receivers helps the numbers game quite a bit.;)

Jaxon had 80 some odd catches for 1600 yards. What about all the other completed passes and yards?

Dane Evans of Sanger had 3420 passing yards in 11 games which gives him 310.9 a game.

BEAST Take away those catches and yards and the numbers are still impressive....but he also had another receiver that would have been the "star" receiver on pretty much any other team. I'll give you that Brown was a difference maker for sure....Wylie romped over basically the same players last year (incl Shipley) minus Brown at QB.

Clubb was a stud on the field when we played Iowa Park. I looked up his stats and it was give or take 1000+/1000+ run/pass.

I thought his numbers were bigger. He played bigger than those numbers indicate.

I didn't realize that the Sanger QB was a JR. until now; thanks.

Argyle's excellent QB Austin Aune was also a JR. as well, so I would certainly think that both Sanger and Argyle will be very strong next year.

Carthage's Morgan guided them to the Championship last year as a JR, and that really made him a field general with tremendous confidence as a SR. this year.

Anyone know of any other prominent JR's from this year that will be
back?

Monahans Loboes
W. Roark Passing 1719 yards/25 tds/6 ints/126 QB rating and Rushing 382 yards/4 tds
He was our District MVP and his numbers, although not gaudy, are excellent for a Wing T QB.

For some reason these words come to mind, especially the last two sentences:

You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has walls. And those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives...You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall. You need me on that wall.
We use words like honor, code, loyalty...we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use 'em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to!

That is stupid. So any talk of Brownwood or a player from Brownwood is off limits now? I was asking a serious question.

As for what we will do next, what we've always done, win!

Ian Day was a pretty good QB, but his performance week to week was a direct result of the offensive line play. Jeckyl and Hyde up front this year.

149 for 226 (66%), 2279 yds, 24 TD, 7 INT
724? yards rushing (unsure of the correct total from CH game.)

There were a lot of very good 3A Qbs this year.

BEAST I think if you aren't bragging on Graylon Brown, you SHOULD be! He proved himself to be a difference maker and even the one game I saw where he seemed "off", he was still pretty dang good. Those stats don't lie!!  Plus he has the cutest little baby faced grin when he is interviewed!! :D

Any chance he is gonna be too tired for baseball this spring? ;)

A running QB but also did a great job passing the ball this year! Brought his team to the state semi-finals!

He was fun to watch. One thing the "stats" don't show is that two of the ints were in the opponent's redzone or endzone trying to score. Sure wish we had him for another year, but alas, he's a senior.

Luke Turner will only get better, I'll guarantee that. At times this season he made poor decisions that cost us turnovers. I'm pretty sure his decision-making skills will improve after one year of experience at the QB position. I look for him to have an even more phenomenal senior year.

Tristen Barajas- Freshmen QB at Ingleside. Only played in 6 games- 71-135 1164 yds 11 TD, 10 INT; rushed for 177 yds and 6 TD. Not bad for a freshmen.

Looks like some very talented QB's in 3A.

Avery Saenz - Chapel Hill - Junior
185 of 264 for 2830 yards

Not bad for a junior that played only a few plays on varsity as a freshmen and didnt play any his soph year due too broken wrist.
The state game was not his best performance. Plus, Henderson was bringing the pressure hard.

So, how many of these QB's will go on to play at the next level...and play as a QB? Just wondering if there is another Stephen McGee in this current crop..

Luke Turner is the son of one of our coaches, Matt Turner. If you're asking about Coach Jeff Traylor's son, Jordan, he played receiver for the majority of the year. They rotated at QB in the first game of the season and Luke won the starting job. Either one is very good at either QB or receiver, which is the position Luke played last year.
