We saw their show in San Antonio tonight!
It was Frikkin' Awesome!
They play today (DEC. 5) at the Toyota Center in Houston. I can't recommend this show enough.

Great show with tons of lasers, pyrotechnics, incredible stage lighting and oh...
lots of Christmas music that literally ROCKS! :)

I would love to see them.

A few years ago some guy wired all of his outdoor Christmas lights (and I mean a bunch of them) to flash to the music of the TSO. It was cool. I wonder if he is still doing that or if there is a video on YouTube.

So does the orchestra at least look like they're all women? Or is it really obvious they're men?

Hey! That is Jeff Trykoski's house. I have met him a couple of times at LSH get-togethers. Really nice guy and owner of Illumimax(I bought my strobes from him).
That display single-handily compelled me to go into the computer controlled Christmas Light Display. This year I'll be running a 6-8 song show with 13,000+ lights all synchronized to music. You can actually drive up to my house, tune to 107.1 FM andsit back and enjoy the show.
I might not be as big-time as some of those guys are but if you live in San Antonio, it would be worth a peek. :)

Jeff has run the downtown Frisco Christmas Show for several years now. That is an AWESOME show!

Forney, Texas, Light Show Displays True Christmas Spirit

FORNEY, Texas -- Chris and Camber Mathis have always enjoyed decorating for Christmas, but in 2007 the couple in this Dallas-area town took their skills to the next level.

The Mathises decided to enter a local Christmas light contest in 2007 and Chris told his wife, "We won't win with what we do now and must go big!"

What started out as a one-time deal became what is essentially now a year-round project.

"We start working on the music and display way back around March of each year," Chris says. "In the summer of each year we attend a Christmas light show workshop with other crazy Christmas light enthusiasts from around Texas that is put on by Lone Star Holidays. On Nov. 1 we start on the Christmas display."

So when do the lights get turned on each year?

"Our crew of family and friends put in several man hours so that the lights will come on Thanksgiving night," Chris says. "Our 2010 Christmas display consists of roughly 76,000 lights which are computer controlled and synchronized to music. The lights are synchronized to several songs which are broadcast to passing vehicles over a low-power FM transmitter (87.9 FM)."

It takes more than 85 hours to tear the display down.

Forney, a community of about 15,000, has been proclaimed by the Texas legislature to be "The Antique Capital of Texas." The Mathises have used their brilliant Christmas lights show to collect food for the Forney New Life Food Pantry, and they collect several hundred pounds of food each year.

Last year the Mathises got involved with the Forney Police Santa Program. The Forney Police Department sends out a police cruiser once a year during the light show so that people driving by can fill the police car with toys for local kids. This year FPD will collect toys on Dec. 10. On the weekends, the Forney Light Show gets about 200 cars a night that cruise by or stop.

As a Forney resident, I was eager to check out this Forney Light Show at the Mathis residence. Their home is located in the 11000 block of Prairie Lakes Lane off FM 1641 and Helms Trail. It's just about a five-mile drive east from downtown Forney to get to the splendid Christmas lights display. The theme this year was based on the TV movie Deck the Halls with Danny DeVito and Matthew Broderick.

Each night the show starts at 6 p.m. and it restarts each half hour. It runs until 10 p.m. on weekdays and 11 p.m. on weekends. As I drove up the Mathis' street, I immediately saw their 40-foot blue and white blinking Christmas tree beckoning me closer. I arrived in time to see the show begin with the synchronized lights and Christmas music combined with a large round movie screen showing clips of Deck the Halls.

Their yard was lit up with a brilliant display of multi-colored lights across the lawn. Brightly colored trees, wagon wheels and light ropes complimented the displays in the yard. The Mathis' roof was covered with wonderful electronic snowflakes that synchronized perfectly with each of the Christmas songs being played.

After watching the half-hour show, I knew that it was a special part of Forney living. I asked Chris and Camber if their effort was worth it each year: "It is priceless when we go out and see the cars out front with kid's faces up against the window with a smile on their face," Chris says. "We get compliments all year long from people in the community."
