DeSoto quarterback Ryan Polite commits to UT-San Antonio
10:56 PM CST on Thursday, December 2, 2010
DeSoto senior quarterback Ryan Polite, who this season became the ninth player in Texas prep history to surpass the 10,000-yard career passing milestone, said Thursday that he has orally committed to UT-San Antonio.
Polite (6-1, 205) had received a few Football Bowl Subdivision scholarship offers last season before they went away. UT-San Antonio was the first to offer him this year. The offer came at about 5 p.m. Thursday, and 30 minutes later Polite gave his commitment to the new program.
"It's a huge relief for me and my family," Polite said.
Polite has passed for 3,756 yards and 35 touchdowns while rushing for 10 more scores this year.
Oral commitments are nonbinding. The first day a football player in the Class of 2011 can sign a national letter of intent is Feb. 2.
