No, Dickerson came out of Sealy when they were 2A, so he was never a product of 3A ball (if he were, I would agree)...

Harvey Williams came from Hempstead years ago. But not sure if they were 3A at the time.

Mikel Ricks (the starting TE for Lions) played for Anahuac. I wouldn't say he is the best player that came from 3A but he does pretty good for the Lions.

Yah, I know what you're saying about 2A accually being 3A... It gets too weird there so I just usually stick with the 'easy' stuff heh...

What about Bubba Bean. Wasn't the former A&M back from Kirbyville and didn't he have a brief stint in the NFL?
Also, when Brenham was 3A, they had a lineman named Wilson Whitley. The guy was a hoss. He went from UH to the bigs I think.

Didn't all of those guys go to TCU???I'm pretty sure they did. And I also think that little sis/cousin Schobel is headed to TCU to play V-ball, Brahma73 should be able to confirm that. The Frogs saved that family alot of money! :D

Geez... I remember hearing about all of these guys when they were at Columbus, then all of the sudden you hear about 'em at TCU... They should just change it from Texas Christian to The Columbus University...

Also, when Brenham was 3A, they had a lineman named Wilson Whitley. The guy was a hoss. He went from UH to the bigs I think. But, of course, THAT 3a became what is now 4a. There was no 5a then. The divisions were just RENAMED, nothing else changed. Yet the history on this Board does not recognize the renaming. From 1979 back the State Championship list shows the second classification down as the champion, not the third down as is the case now. Maybe someone on this Board knows the reasoning for this?

Speaking of Brenham, they had this guy named Roosevelt Leaks if I remember correctly. Back in 1969 I think. Or maybe I have the year wrong. OC, what do you say? I think BC played him in bi-district?

Your absolutely right about Leaks. He was a stud RB who played for the Horns, and then the pros, but I can't remember for whom.
Oh, and sorry I started all the 3A to 4A garbage. :o

What 3A schools have produced NFL talent?Kennedale has Cedric James (WR/KR for the Vikings, then Jets, now Cowboys...although he hasn't had any playing time with the Cowboys yet). He went to TCU, too.

Let's not forget Hunter Goodwin from Bellville, plays for the Vikings currently. Don't know what Bellville was when he played. He sure is a good guy, besides being a hoss!

Jeremiah Trotter plays for the Redskins @ starting MLB-Hooks can't remember if they were 3A or 2A at the time. He has a brother Nick that plays for SFA. Also, (Can't remeber first name) Phipps from Diboll was Defensive Player of the year when he played for TCU. Had a breif stint in NFL wiht Cowboys and now plays EFL.

James Dixon came out of Vernon and played for the Cowboys under Jimmy Johnson in the early 90's. But NOT the BEST player out of 3A ever. But a solid player.

Vernon may have been 4A when he came out I can't remember. (I didn't want to get caught up in the technicalities)

Bandera had a 1st team all american line backer at Texas A&M Kingsville in 1997. He would probably be a starter in the NFL right now but he never made it because his knees were so bad.

Brahmamom, Jkoy is not wishing to toot the old family horn. I recon if we did a family NFL portrait they would be at the top. Ernie Jr. played NFL for Giants and Ernie's brother Ted Koy of the National Champion Texas Longhorns (remember the shootout game against Arkansas?), anyway Ted played for the Buffalo Bills.

And to top it all off Ernie Sr. is the only living person to have played baseball with the legend, Babe Ruth. Ernie Sr. is still running up and down the highways around Austin County. They did a special on Ernie Sr. on ESPN several months ago.

Props to the Koy clan.

Harvey Williams did come out of Hempstead when they were 3a. He was on the last Hempstead team to go deep into the playoffs. Also coming from Hempstead was Johnny Holland, an all pro linebacker from Greenbay if memory serves me correct.

Thanks for filling in the gaps for me, Bongo. Those Koy genes are incredible, I just wasn't real sure about Ted and if Ernie,Sr had played pro football in addition to his wonderful baseball career. I know a few folks would love to have that kind of heredity! To be sure, the athletic Koys also work hard to develop those talents.
